We appologize for not updating the blog as regularly as some of the other channels.  Yes we are still around and meeeting on a regular basis.  We meet from 6 PM - 9 PM Wednesday nights.  If you have questions please use the contact form, or drop an email to info at openlabidaho . org.

We have a facebook, G+, the forums and a twitter feed, so watch in those places for announcements as well.

We have received a couple of emails recently with bad return addresses in the contact form, so if you use that way to contact us, please double check you address so we can reply to you!

Also, we will be doing some refactoring on the website soon, so hopefully we can get more conssitent in the messaging to all our fans and members.

Rob Bishop from Raspberry Pi to Visit on August 16th

On August 16th, Open Lab Idaho is thrilled to welcome Rob Bishop to our community to talk about the Raspberry Pi and stop in for a social visit at Open Lab Idaho's home base. Rob Bishop was the first technical employee at Raspberry Pi and is currently one of two full time software engineers. Alongside his engineering responsibilities, Rob also acts as an "evangelist" and works to promote the educational mission of the Foundation.

Hack Night is this week! Hack Night is a weekly event where like-minded geeks hang out and work on projects at the space such as Arduino microcontrollers, computers, 3D printers, and small robots.

Not a member? Not a problem! This is the perfect time to come check out Open Lab Idaho if you haven't had a chance to yet. Hack Night will start at 6 PM on Wednesday, April 24th, and usually ends around 9 PM.

This event will be located at Open Lab Idaho at 110 W 33rd Street, Garden City, ID next door to The Reuseum. Look for a white cog and beaker logo on the door!

Wait a second. Didn't we have Hack Night last week? Yes, we did, but then the Board of Directors got together and decided that we needed more Hack Night! Greetings!

In keeping with the current Ubuntu Server theme, this month we are happy to have Clint from the Boise Linux User Group share his knowledge of building a LAMP server. We will pick up from where we left off - starting with a basic server. Clint will walk us through installation, some configuration tips and tricks and follow up with a look at installing WordPress to demo MySql/phpmyadmin.

We'll bring some snacks and drinks but nothing hearty so feel free to bring in some dinner if you need it.
